MTV VMAs 2014

Another year, another amazing video music awards! Last nights brilliant show was bursting with talent and was just fantastic. The show opened with a brilliant medley from Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj and the beautiful Brit Jessie J. Despite Nicki's slightly
embarrassing wardrobe malfunction, she was very professional and still the 3 fierce women delivered a great performance of their already very successful single. Taylor Swift looked beautiful and gave us a very fun and enjoyable performance off the upbeat tune of 'Shake It Off' shaking off (if you pardon the pun) lots of criticism of the new song. The audience was also treated with a delightful performance of the incredible 'Amnesia' from the sensational 5 Seconds of Summer and Queen Bee (Beyonce) did the most exciting medley of the year. Other excellent performances throughout the night included: Sam Smith, Maroon 5, Usher, Iggy Azalea and Rita Ora.

Every single award winner was very deserving. Best Lyric Video went to 5 Seconds of Summer which is no surprise and a huge achievement for the Aussie lads who are currently touring with the boys of One Direction. Ed Sheeran also went to win Best Male Video for 'Sing' which is amazing. However the most emotional part of the night was when Miley Cyrus won Video of the Year for 'Wrecking Ball' and sent her friend Jesse on to the stage to accept the award who then went on to represent homelessness. Everyone went silent and Miley looked on proudly as she wept from the side of the stage. He talked about My Friends Place which is in Hollywood and is a homeless centre for young people. Miley is a huge supporter of this cause and donations can be made here. We love Miley!

Below is a full list of the award winners:

Best Lyric Video- 5 Seconds of Summer, 'Don't Stop'
Best Female Video- Katy Perry, 'Dark Horse'
Best Male Video- Ed Sheeran, 'Sing'
Best Pop Video- Ariana Grande ft Iggy Azalea, 'Problem'
Best Hip Hop Video- Drake ft Majid Jordan, 'Hold On We're Going Home'
Best Rock Video- Lorde, 'Royals'
Artist to watch- Fifth Harmony
Video of the Year- Miley Cyrus, 'Wrecking Ball'
Video Vanguard Award- Beyonce

Well that's another year of the VMAs over, I really can't wait till next year but in the meantime we can all go over to MTV's website and watch all the videos and relive the magnificent evening over and over and over!

Also please do free to comment, I would love to here what people think... :-)

Jessie J

As this is my first blog post, I just want to take this moment to say hello and my name is Charlotte. I am going to be writing about concerts, music events, premieres and basically anything to do with celebrities. My main purpose of this blog is so I can get experience of writing because I am aiming to become a journalist when I am older and I think this is something I can put my time into which will hopefully help me develop my skills. So I hope you enjoy reading what I post and I am making my first blog post of my experience at the latest concert I attended!

I recently went to one of the amazingly talented Jessie J's concert at her first arena tour Alive. We had tickets for the 30th October at one of my favorite venues, the o2 Arena in London.

I really enjoyed the show and to kick it off she had an artist from America called Olivia Somerlyn. I didn't really enjoy her because she was singing her own songs but besides that she was quite a decent singer. However most people were more excited to see the other support act which is the well known band and great performers, Lawson. They were really good live and really got the crowd going before Jessie came out.

It was then time for Jessie to start her performance and she started by singing Big White Room which she sounded incredible at! She was honestly so wonderful and her voice sounds great live with it sounding exactly like how it does on the album. Throughout the show she made a few speeches which I found quite inspirational and she really entertained the crowd throughout the whole concert. She really is so talented and I think she is brilliant for all ages as I saw a whole range of people showing their support there! I really recommend going to see her because she is exceptional!

Despite this, I really did not enjoy the seats I had. We got them quite late on so that's why we ended up with seats at the top and personally I think they were horrible. I am fine with heights but I find the top so steep that it is quite scary to move. This really disappointed me because it meant that I could not get up and dance which I think makes a concert 100% more enjoyable. You can still see quite well but obviously it is tiny and pictures are quite hard to take. I would not recommend the top for anyone who is scared of heights and for anyone who enjoys really going wild at concerts because it is just so hard to do that up the top. I will probably not buy tickets for level 4 anymore as I have sat up there once before as well and this time has completely put me off.

My next concert I am going to is on the 8th December so I will aim to write about that once I have been but anyway, thanks for reading!
